“…a certain piece or parcel of land lying & being in [Craven County] on the North Side of Neuse River & East side of Little Swift Creek & on a prong of Kits Swamp containing [25 acres] in being half of an undivided tract of land which fell to me and my sister Matilda Morris at the death of my father James Morris dec’d & runs as follows, beginning at a pine in Samuel Smyth’s line & Runs So 10 Wt 40 poles to a Stake, then So 75 Wt 60 poles to a pine, Then No 75 Wt 212 poles to a white oak then No 27 Et 60 poles to a pine in Smith’s line thence along Smith’s line to the beginning surveyed June 9th 1797 containing fifty acres be teh same more or less it being patented by John Burch Senr & conveyed from said John Burch to Levi Burch & from Levi Burch to Wm Gatlin & from Wm Gatlin to James Morris & from James Morris by heirship to Jesse Morris & Matilda Morris…”
