“… on the North side of Neuse River and East side of little Swift Creek and on a prong of Kits Swamp, containing [25 acres]… it being one half of an undivided tract of land which fell to the said Matilda Gaskins and my brother Jesse Morris at the death of my father James Morris and runs as follows beginning at a pine in Samuel Smith’s line … surveyed June the 9th 1797 containing fifty acres more or less, it being patented by John Burch Senr and conveyed from said John Burch to Levi Burch and from Levi Burch to William Gatlin and from Wm. Gatlin to James Morris and from James Morris by heirship to Jesse Morris and Matilda Gaskins…”
