Note: The Susannah Morris in this deed was Susannah White, wife of Lewis Morris (referenced in the above deed, deceased by the time this was written). Susannah remarried after Lewis’s death to Levi West. Lewis evidently had no children with Susannah so in his will, he instructed that all of his property be sold and divided between Thomas Morris, Sarah Morris, and Lewis Morris Loftin (the child of Leonard Loftin and Lewis’s sister, Ferebee Morris, who was deceased by the time the will was written). Lewis Morris was apparently not yet married to Susannah when he wrote his will which explains why she was not mentioned in it. There are documents in his estate folder explaining the situation. The petition below is one of those documents.

About this Site

MorrisGenealogy.com was created as a reference to Morris family-related records, such as Deeds, Wills, Court Records, and other items that are critical to understanding Morris family relationships — figuring out which Morrises belong with which family, and which ones may presently be linked to the wrong families.
