Deed of Gift
“…for and in consideration of the love good will and affection which I have and do bear towards my loving grandson William Lewis of [Craven County] … [I] do hereby give and grant unto sd William Lewis… all and every part of property I hold in the wolrd that is to say all my lands and pershes thereunto belonging all my household furniture and perishable property together with all my cattle hogs sheep and bees and negroes namely one negro woman named Comfort and all her increase one negro boy named Tom one negro girl named Mary now being in my present dwelling house in the county and state aforesaid of which before the signing of these presents I have delivered the said William Lewis this property with my own hand in the presence of this witness to be his lawful right and title to the said William Lewis his heirs and assigns forever…”
